What is it?
If you would like to share your survey data with others via this website, the first step is to upload a tab delimited textfile or shapefile to the website. The next step is to insert the data from the uploaded file into the website database so it can be accessed by users of the website.
Text Files: Browse to the file location on your computer by clicking the 'browse' button.
Shapefiles: Because an ESRI shapefile is actually a set of at least three files, you will need to browse to the different components such as the *.shp and the *.dbf file extensions. They will all be found in the same location on your computer, and will have the same name except for the file extention. For example, if you have a shapefile called 'states', this file name will appear in the location of your shapefile at least three times with a different extension each time.
Select the file of the shapefile with the .shp extension
Select the file of the shapefile with the .dbf extension
Select the file of the shapefile with the .shx extension
If metadata has been created for the shapefile there will be one with a .xml extension
If the projection has been defined for the projection there will be a file with a .prj extension
Click the 'Upload' button after you have browsed to the file(s)
You will receive a confirmation on the next page.
